By WPSL Communications Staff
WPSL alumna, Jasmine Aikey, was announced the winner of the 2025 Missouri Athletic Club Hermann Trophy in St. Louis on Friday.
Aikey, a senior midfielder from Stanford University, played in the WPSL in 2021 for MVLA Wolves. She was a semifinalist for the award in 2023.
Aikey is the second consecutive WPSL alumnae to win the award given to college soccer’s top player. Last year’s winner, Kate Faasse from the University of North Carolina, played in 2023 and 2024 for SC del Sol.
And for the first time in the 28-season history of the league, all three of Friday night’s finalist for most prestigious individual award in women’s college soccer were WPSL alumnae. Jordynn Dudley, a junior at Florida State, played in the WPSL for UFA Gunners in 2024, and Izzy Engle, a sophomore at Notre Dame, played in the WPSL from 2021 through 2024 for the Minnesota Thunder.
With the ability to play all over the field, Aikey was used primarily as an attacking midfielder in her record-setting senior year. She finished her final collegiate season third in the NCAA Division I in scoring with 21 goals and 11 assists—tallying six in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, propelling Stanford to its third consecutive College Cup appearance, falling to Florida State in the final 1-0 this year. Aikey’s 2025 accolades include: All-ACC, All-America, TopDrawer Soccer National Player of the Year, and Academic All-American. She is just the second Academic All-American in the 37-year history of the award to win the MAC Hermann Trophy. Longtime Canadian National Team and NWSL icon, Christine Sinclaire (University of Portland), was the first in 2005.
Earlier this week, Aikey signed a professional contract with to play in the NWSL with expansion side, Denver Summit FC.
Aikey joins a growing list of WPSL alumnae to recognized as the top individual player in college soccer, which began on the women’s side in 1988. Aikey and Faasse join Jalen Howell (Motor City FC 2021: Florida State University) winner in 2020 and 2021, and Catarina Marcario (San Diego SeaLions 2018, ’19: Stanford University) in 2018 and 2019.
